What is it like being a food prep at a restaurant?

P.F Changs offered me a job being a food prep. What is it like being a food prep at a restaurant? This would be my first time doing this.

Will this recipe work well for fondant?

This is a quick and easy recipe for making fondant candies and creams. You can use this fondant recipe as a base and add coloring or flavored extract to create a wide variety of fondant candies and fillings.
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Ingredients:
1/3 cup softened butter
1/3 cup light corn syrup
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp salt
1 lb sifted powdered sugar
Preparation:
1. In a large mixing bowl, blend the butter, corn syrup, vanilla and salt on medium speed with a paddle attachment until smooth and well-combined.

2. Add the powdered sugar all at once, and mix on slow speed, gradually increasing speed to medium until well-combined. The mixture should cling together in the bottom of the bowl and be smooth to the touch.

3. The fondant can now be rolled into balls, rolled thin and cut with cookie cutters, or stored for later use. Store in a cool dry place, wrapped tightly and placed in an airtight container.

Variations: To flavor, add extracts or oils in the beginning with the butter and corn syrup. To color, knead a small amount of your desired food coloring into the ball of fondant and work with hands until thoroughly combined.

PROS/CONS?
Will it be good for covering a cake?

All you can eat? How to prepare for it?

The restaurants’s all you can eat has like really good food (not junk btw) that everyone knows about, so i wanna stuff as much as I can in my stomach (we’re gonna get there in like 4-5 hours from now). how should i prep for that? should i work out a bit before? im 16 haha

No prep meals, cooking time only?

something similar to marinated chicken that i can buy and just throw in the oven. pretty much home made fast foods?

How can you eat/shop healthy on a VERY tight budget, and no/little time to prepare foods?

I am not poor, but I have a VERY tight budget for everyting ( especially now considering gas prices ). I am 20lbs overweight……thanks to the cheap, convenient fast food options (ugh!).

I work a full time job, and have classes every night. How can I possibly eat healthy cheaply, and not spend hous prepping?

….I’ve tried buying fresh veggies/fruits to snack on (carrots, celery, etc.), buying celery to put on things……..chicken, etc.

The problem I run into is that I can’t seem to buy anything cheap that takes no preparation to make, and is also VERY healthy. Even fresh vegges require washing, cutting, etc.

I’m literally one of those people with a MAD schedule (almost no time at home), and need a way to have things at my fingertips that are already prepared (or close to), cheap, and healthy.

Anyone have any ideas? Or better yet…….. know of a website that has options for this kind of dilimea, and offers breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack options?

Thanks!
Hmph!! Stupid spell check (my fault for not using it, and typing in a fury). Several corrections to make myself feel better:

*everything
*hours
*veggies
*dilemma

…..and anything else I missed.
I’ve always had an interest in Veganism. BUT….. I am a gourmet eater. I LOVE different ethnicities of food (indian, italian, mexican, etc.)….it makes of most of my diet. Even when I try and use healthier options out of those things, I LOVE food (and not in an "eating my feelings" kind of way)…..but I truly have a rediculous passion for food…..flavors, textures, blends..etc. (I should have been a food-critic….ha!).

….. I might be able to cut DOWN on some things, but never eliminate them out of my diet. I am just to passionate about the different varieties of foods….
